Office Space in Town Co-Founders Warn of Risks of UK Business Rates Reform

Co-Founders of leading UK flexible serviced office provider, Office Space Town (OSiT), Giles and Niki Fuchs recently featured in The London Standard and LBC to warn that the business-rates overhaul introduced in the Autumn Budget could dramatically destabilise UK businesses and urban centres.

The business tax reforms introduced by the Chancellor will introduce a higher rate of payment for offices worth over £500,000, with OSiT maintaining that overhauls to business rates will make high-quality office space inaccessible to smaller SMEs, entrepreneurs and startups.

Giles and Niki Fuchs highlight that by closing off first-class working environments, the business rates overhaul also risks returning urban centres to the deserted days of Covid, triggering further decline by pushing people back toward working from home, depriving young people of mentorship and career development opportunities, and denying city retailers and hospitality the footfall to survive.

Managing a strategic public relations programme for OSiT, The Communication Group plc supports the company in strengthening its thought leadership credentials, elevating its business profile and attracting new investment. Recent successes include high impact opinion pieces secured in The London Standard and LBC, among others.
