Kebony cladding for Sweden’s first round passive house

Villa Circuitus is Sweden’s first round passive house built to meet passive house requirements, with strict environmental demands in terms of design and construction materials.

The Communication Group plc generated coverage for this innovative project across architectural, design, construction and environmental outlets including: Construction Global, Timber in Construction, Home Designer and Architect and House to Home.

Villa Circuitus recently opened its doors during the ‘International 2015 Passive House Days’, with almost 700 Passive House buildings across 30 countries taking part to present the future of energy-efficient housing to the public.

Recycled paper and glass are used throughout the structure and the whole house is built on a wooden frame of Kebony, the sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood. This creates a modern aesthetic, which complements the natural surroundings and offers fantastic protection from the cold weather.

The design is bold but with a decidedly natural influence, as the exterior of the house interweaves striking orange panels with Kebony cladding. The second storey has a 35 sq. m veranda with stunning views and a balustrade made of solar panels which power the house for the majority of the year.
