Leading Culture Destinations Award-Winners 2016 Announced

The winners of the Leading Culture Destinations Awards, “The Oscars for Museums”, were announced on 30 September at a star-studded ceremony at The Langham, London and attended by artists Polly Morgan and Mat Collishaw, Prince Konstantin Bayern, the Deputy Mayor of Quebec, Head of Tourism at World Economic Forum Professor Geoffrey Lipman and rapper Akala who offered a short speech.

The Broad in Los Angeles took home the coveted title of overall winner of the 2016 Leading Culture Destinations Awards, while other winners included Tate Modern Switch House extension in London, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and The Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Manitoba.

The international panel of judges for the awards chose the winners from a list of destinations and attractions compiled by over 80 ambassadors. There were four categories: Leading Culture Destination, Best New Museum, Soft Power Destinations and the Traveller’s Awards.

The Communication Group plc generated a significant amount of international media coverage around the event with 56 pieces across the likes of Mail Online, Conde Nast Traveler, Evening Standard, Yahoo Finance, Globo TV, Business Insider, Radio Canada and Bunte.
