How The Council For At-Risk Academics Has Transformed The Lives Of Scholars Worldwide

The Communication Group plc is proud to have helped showcase the crucial work of the Council for At-Risk Academics, a UK-based charity which supports scholars in danger across the globe, in leading national, international and education publications.

The charity, founded in 1933 to provide a lifeline to academics at risk from persecution, violence and conflict, plays a fundamental role in securing top placements for scholars in prestigious universities across the UK so they can continue their research in safety until they can return home to rebuild their shattered societies.

The experience of Cara Fellow, Amani Ahmed from Gaza, and the support she and her family received from Cara featured in the Telegraph’s popular podcast, Battle Lines.’  The charity recently reported receiving over 120 applications for help from Palestinians in need of support.

Cara’s work to assist at-risk academics from Ukraine and Russia was also called into focus following the 1000-day milestone of the Russia-Ukraine war. The story of a Russian Cara Fellow now living in the UK, was reported in the Independent, highlighting how nearly 400 scholars from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine have sought help from Cara since the start of the war.

International academic title University World News recently detailed how Cara is supporting Ukrainian academics who escaped the conflict and have now found new intellectual homes in the UK.

The Communication Group plc has provided tailored PR support to boost awareness of Cara and its mission and help the charity secure more funding at a time when demand for help is at its highest.
