Global Rights Compliance Calls on World Leaders to uphold International Law at Ukraine Ceasefire Talks

Ahead of last week’s summit between President Trump and President Putin in Alaska, experts at leading international human rights foundation Global Rights Compliance issued a warning regarding ceasefire talks and the implications it could have on international law.

President of Global Rights Compliance Wayne Jordash KC and Legal Advisors Jeremy Pizzi and Maksym Vishchyk emphasised that the international community must hold Russian forces accountable for the war crimes they have committed over the course of the war, now in its fourth year.

The lawyers stressed that if any peace negotiation sidelined Ukraine’s prosecutions for international war crimes, then a dangerous precedent would be set that would undermine foundational principles of international law. Jordash also asserted that Ukraine’s borders must not be used as bargaining chips, as any deal that resulted in the ceding of sovereign Ukrainian territory would violate the UN Charter.

The Communication Group plc is supporting Global Rights Compliance with a targeted media engagement strategy that leverages key global events, including the ceasefire talks, to highlight thought leadership. Online coverage was secured in leading  publications including  CNN, The Guardian, Newsweek, the Daily Express and The Independent, among others.
