Vetro, the landmark development by leading multi-use property developer Rockwell in Westferry, East London has been shortlisted for three leading awards – the Property Awards, Tall Building Awards and British Homes Awards.
Rockwell’s regeneration project in Westferry has seen a total transformation of the formerly derelict and disused site into a vibrant, attractive and safe anchor-location for the local community. This year, the development has been recognised for its positive impact on the local area, both as a feat of property development and as a community-enabling project, reflecting Rockwell’s steadfast, industry-leading commitment to going ‘beyond the building’.
As a finalist for the Property Awards’ ‘Placemaking and Social Value Award’, Vetro was also acknowledged for its positive impact on the local community, through its work improving access around the building and Westferry DLR, and investing in local community projects, including through partnerships with Westferry FC and the London Training Centre.
Shortlisted for ‘Best Mixed-Use or Commercial Tall Building Project’ by the Tall Building Awards, Vetro was also recognised for the advanced building methods used throughout the project to provide strong structural solutions, reduce environmental impact and encourage collaborative working, demonstrating its innovation-oriented approach to producing best-in-class buildings.
Finally, the prestigious British Home Awards recognised Vetro’s wider regenerative impact on Westferry, shortlisting the development for ‘Regeneration Scheme of the Year’. Rockwell turned the site at 82 West India Dock Road – which had sent empty and vacant for 10 years – into 68 contemporary new homes, alongside a 400-bed hotel, which has created over 100 new jobs in Westferry and boosted the local economy.
The Communication Group plc played a crucial role in securing these shortlistings, collating, designing and submitting Rockwell’s respective entries.
