The Communication Group plc has been appointed by Maison Assouline, an international flagship store for luxury publisher Assouline.
Masion Assouline which opened in 2014 is a one-of-a-kind ‘culture concept’ store, located in the heart of Piccadilly, and has firmly established itself within the London scene as a must-visit destination for discerning Londoners and international visitors.
The first international Maison Assouline flagship is set over two levels within a grade II–listed banking hall designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1922; and acts as a living jewellery box; offering visitors a fascinating insight into Martine & Prosper’s aesthetic and style. The unique store features an elegant bar surrounded by glamorous handcrafted bookcases, desks and library lighting; as well as Assouline’s cabinets of curiosities and special-edition Goyard travel trunks – all layered with beautiful books, objects and antiques scouted during Prosper’s travels around the world.
Since it opened in 2014, Maison Assouline has been elected as one of the world’s most beautiful bookstores by Town & Country (January 2017) and recently described by Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci, as ‘one of my 100 favourite places in the world’. Maison Assouline has become a destination favoured and graced by some of the world’s most influential from Heidi Klum for the launch of her book with Ian Rankin; and Valentino Garavani, who opened the store in 2014; to Donald Robertson and Pierre Cardin, who will host their hotly anticipated book launches and pop-up shops at Maison Assouline this autumn.
Prosper Assouline comments, “Our flagship in Piccadilly is a concept store for culture. All our books tell a story, like a movie, and we wanted it to embody the spirit of our brand. You can sit, have tea and you can buy anything you see. Our stores are an extension of our private residence.”
